The
Love of A Stranger
by
Des Teddy, Sudbury, Canada, Age 14
Your serious tone starts
the silence.
It elongates the intermission and changes into hours.
We sit in security, trying to get away.
No excuse seems realistic enough.
We are fighting the dim lights and the darkened echo.
I hear you breathe, wishing you’d come near.
I will not sink that low and apologize.
This night will kill us before I fall into your trap.
The air gets thinker and the sun starts falling.
Still I find myself closing my eyes, powerless.
You want to leave, you don’t want the hassle.
It’s too late for anything to happen.
I want to let go but something is holding me back.
Our confusion and stranger-like attitude gives me a reason.
The corner smile you make when you tell a lie brings me the other
way.
I hate this stress; I wish you’d be the bigger man and say
that you’re sorry.
