Spiritual
by
Sarah Wilson, Scarborough, Canada, Age 18
I’m spiritual because I believe
that Jesus died for me
I’m not religious because I know what I’m expected to
be
I believe that God wants us to abide by our faith
But not understanding him is our biggest mistake
He told us to tell the world about him
Not to judge others and condemn
He told us to help and love each other
Not to criticize and label one another
He told us to read our Bible and pray
Not to bring people to church and scare them away
With your holier than thou attitude and yours hearts that love to
hate
With your ever judging eyes that quickly assume their fate
At least other sinners only hurt themselves
You’re hurting others when you mentally place them in hell
You preach against drugs, gay people and drinking
But you’re hypocritical attitude gets people thinking
Why they’d want to join a church that feeds off society’s
weak
A church that lives to judge and critique
When looking for religion if that’s what people see
No wonder it’s so hard these days for people to believe
