Slip
Through My Fingers
by Trevor Hegill, Toronto,
Canada, Age 17
She comes to me like a wave on the sea
Flowing, rushing, swallowing me
I would drown, and be so happy
Like a gull my mind is flying
Looking down, see me lying on the sandy shore
Wanting a little more, always
I
feel the warm sand
Slip through my fingers
Tumble back to the sea
The
sky is ours we share the stars
Looking out, together
In
the cold I feel so warm
The sea is warm, the sea is warm
I could drown, and be so happy
The sea is rising, swallowing me
Drowning the land, the land is me
The shore is where I meet the sea
The sand is both of us
And
I feel the sand, slip through my fingers
Slip through my fingers, back to the sea
I
feel you, slip through my fingers
Slip through my fingers, slip back to the sea
She
comes to me like a wave on the sea
Mounting, rushing, swallowing me
I'm up and running, running to you
Running down to the sea
Your seventh wave meets me in stride
The water takes me and I ride
I could drown and be so happy
But I feel you, slip through my fingers
Slip through my fingers, slip back to the sea
