I'm
Holding
by
Tai Tian, Markham, Canada, Age 13
I’m holding your hand
And we’re lying on the grass
Can you hear the birds sing?
Do you see the sun smiling?
The taste of watermelon and kisses
In my mouth
Soft green silk beneath my feet
And butterfly kisses on my skin
The fireflies buzz around our heads
The gold shines on our faces
And the stars sparkle beautifully
I could stay here with you forever
Gentle soft wind blows on my lips
And you kiss my cheek
The tender humming of the dragonflies
Lulls me right to sleep
And blissful dreams fill my head
Magic and love and your kisses
I take a mental picture of the moment
The rain pours down
I open my lids heavy with water
I am soaking and cold
You’re gone and I’m left alone
All your kisses burn my skin
My hand is missing yours
And I grasp a photo in my hand
A picture of the moment
That never happened
