He
Drank
by
Tai Tian, Markham, Canada, Age 13
He drank
And he smoked
Ruthless and no good
Barely a man
She was kind
And gentle
Sweet and forgiving
But very naive
She fell in love
With the devil
She was an angel
And he was breaking her wings
She tried to make him stop
He wouldn't listen
She begged him to end
But he laughed in her face
She was growing tired
And weak
While he was chugging down
Another beer
One day she tried to leave
Quickly slip away
She didn't know what she'd gotten
Into and wanted out
She was driving on the highway
The roads were packed
Her tears were falling from the sky
Locked away in her eyes
He had too much to drink
And was too drunk to care
He smelt of liquor and hate
And was on his way for more
He could barely see
Much less drive
But started up the ignition anyway
He was on his way to hell
She was upset and broken
Almost turned back around
But suddenly it hit her
With a loud crashing sound
Her cry was faint
And her tears red
But the cars collided
As she whispered 'please stop'
One last time she cried
And one last time her call
Fell upon deaf ears
And slowly her pulse went weak
He came out alive but not sober
Unaware and not caring
While she lay peacefully in her bed
On her way to an eternal slumber
