Goodbyes
by
Becky Q, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, Age 15
I can and hear them cry,
I sit and watch,
don't say a word,
not a tear, not a sigh
I just looked ahead.
I can hear them whisper as I walked to say goodbye,
how cold, does she even care, I don't think she has a heart.
As I look ahead all I can think is why, and it can't be so.
They don't see the pain inside
a little child curled up and ready to die.
As i lay the rose on the snow
I say goodbye, dear friend
there is so much left to be told,
As i get up to leave the little child behind
she whispers to me I hear your cry.
As a tear rolls down my cheek
hidden from company's view and locked away,
as I cry, as I say goodbye.
