Could
You Make Me Believe?
by
Tai Tian, Markham, Canada, Age 13
Could you make me believe?
In all the pretty magic
Would you spray fairy dust?
On my glittering paper wings
And if I closed my eyes
And imagined hard enough
Would pixies and fairies twirl and dance?
Around my head and lift me high
If I jumped and spread my paper wings
Would I fly?
Would the stars shine brighter?
If I believed in all the magic
Take me to your wonderland
Show me the gorgeous mermaids
And the evil pirates
And make the pain go away
We’ll never grow old
And forget our troubles away
Dance and sing all night
And fly in fairy dust
I would kiss the stars
And hug the moon
We could lie in the clouds
And float on
We would play pretend
And I would dress up nicely
Wear such a stunning mask
And hide my glitter tears
You’d bow and smile
I’d laugh and dance
We’ve fall into each other’s arms
And lie in this beautiful lie
I could spin and whirl
Until I felt dizzy and sick
And I won’t remember anything
And you would kiss me
I’d take your hand
And we could walk on water
And I just believed
We would both fly so high
And if you hold my hand tight
And spread your wings wide
Maybe I won’t fall back down
And hit the ground so hard
My paper wings won’t tear
My magic crown won’t fall
I could smile and pretend
And life’s a ball
Please don’t let go
Or I might fall
I need this lie
To keep me sane
I need your glitter kisses
