Punahou
Blues: a Hawaiian Novel
By Kirby Wright
Lemon Shark Press, 2005
This
is Lad Lit at its finest! You'd think Jeff Gill had it made going
to a private school in Honolulu, but it's just one issue after another,
from losing the blonde of his dreams to getting dissed by the school
bully to dodging his father's verbal blows. He even gets suspended
for cutting Woodshop and is called "doofus" by his big
brother. Jeff fights back to carve out an identity in clique-ridden
Punahou Academy, which includes fighting the school bully on the
golf course during the Hawaiian Open while Arnold Palmer watches
and finding an outsider babe he can relate to. Includes Hawaiian
words and a glossary at end. Great book!!!
