JUNE---Enjoy
the long weekend! We're off to Quebec for the weekend and then
on to the Maritimes next week... meeting new readers and taking
in our beautiful country. Back next week!
JUNE---Pretty safe to say it now...school is
finished!!!! Alright...bring on the summer...we're ready.
JUNE---Reporter Maya had a very cool interview
this afternoon with the band Serial Joe
at the Newmarket home of band member Ryan Dennis. Great guys,
rocking the Canadian music scene, this foursome is only getting
stronger. Maya is hard at work putting together her piece for
the next issue of FAZE out in August.
JUNE---Look for an in-depth article on FAZE magazine
in the Vancouver Sun next month.
JUNE---FAZE is out in British Columbia, taking
in the beautiful scenery...wow, what an amazing place, especially
when the sun is out! Had a bunch of meetings with the press, and
setting up some relationships with some other major teen websites.
We'll be looking for another excuse to get out there soon! Like
we said before, what an amazing place (especially when the sun
is out!)
JUNE---At the end of the month one of our teen
reporters Maya and her crew are heading to Newmarket, Ont. for
a much awaited interview with the Canadian fab four, Serial
Joe! Ryan, Stever, Jon and Dan will be on hand
to answer everything Maya throws at them. Look for the interview
in the back-to-school issue.
JUNE---The FAZE website has been really buzzing
along lately with hundreds of new visitors everyday. Hits from
Malaysia, Singapore, Sweden, Australia, Hong Kong, Germany, Britain,
South Africa to name some of our visitors' home countries. Welcome
all, and please spread the word, and, if you're one of the web-savvy,
give a big help by submitting us to your favorite search engines.
JUNE---CTV National News ran a fantastic feature
segment on Canadian teens sick of product-pushing American pop/fashion
magazines. Seems a lot of teens have a little more to them than
the adults at the monster media companies would like to accept.
Oh, and yes, FAZE featured prominently in the story with teens
talking up FAZE, and FAZE editor Lorraine being interviewed in
front of a bunch of her mags on the shelves at Chapters. Faze
intern Vanessa Rodriguez was fabulous in her big T.V. debut!
JUNE---Updated the online articles, added a few
new stories including a Summer2000 story giving tips on getting
into the world of fashion design. Lots of pics with the articles.
JUNE---There has been a good interest out there
for a FAZE forum for your creative writing, either in the magazine
or online. And after seeing some of the great stuff that's been
sent in, we couldn't agree more! Give us a week or two and we'll
get a new online home for your masterpieces. So please forward
any of your short stories, essays, articles, poetry, song lyrics
etc to letters@fazeteen.com ! An art and photo site will follow later in the summer.
MAY

website. Adding more stories from the Spring Issue, lots of

and phone calls. FAZE has also been spending some serious
time in the classroom. We've had five different classes this
week conducting 90 minute focus groups with over 100 students
and teachers familiar with FAZE, discussing media, magazines
and, of course, FAZE! Thanks to all who contributed, your
comments, ideas and support will help FAZE become even better.
MAY-A big Hanson
event at the Playdium in Toronto and FAZE reporter, Maya,
was there in the middle of all the action. Taylor
Hanson was hanging out and saw Maya's copy of FAZE
magazine in her hand and.....took it (after asking politely)!!
Now, that's our kind of guy, talented, charming, bright with
excellent taste in reading material. We're working on getting
a few of her closeup photos of the bros. on the FAZE gallery
page. Also met with hot new singer Billy
Crawford from NY and some of the KISSFM's Tarzan
Dan.
MAY---CTV has been doing a weekly series
on Canadian teenagers called Attitudes 2000 and has been following
the FAZE teen story very closely. FAZE Editor Lorraine was
interviewed in-depth as were several apparent FAZE readers
at some Toronto area high schools. Look for the feature in
early June on the National news.
MAY ---Maya, one of our teen reporters has
been arranging some interviews with hot bands: Take5
and Serial Joe to name
a couple. Look for these interviews to take place in the coming
weeks.
MAY---The new Summer 2000 issue is ready!
It's just rolled off the presses and is getting bundled to
be shipped off to your doorsteps and stores across the country.
With more photos, teen writers and two! timely contests. Get

MAY---FAZE is launching two great summer
contests with Bolle sunglasses, Head Tennis Racquets and Music
CDs as prizes. One is simply just for new home subscribers,
the other requires a few quiz questions answered. GOOD LUCK
TO ALL! Look for new and bigger contests in future issues!
APRIL---Met
with world famous anthropologist, Jane
Goodall, known for her work with chimpanzees in the
Congo rainforest. Click for
pics.
APRIL---A FAZE interview with MuchMusic's coolest VJ, Juliette
Powell. Watch for the full
story in the back to school issue, for those of you considering
a career in television. A very inspirational success story! From dateless bookworm to
Miss Canada in a matter of months, surviving a poor upbringing
to become one of the most powerful figures in Canada television,
Juliette Powell, producer/writer/host/VJ/entrepreneur....coming
soon!!
APRIL---A couple of our teen reporters, Maya and Vanessa
are at the YTV Youth Achievement Awards gala on Thursday, April
14th interviewing some of the winners and some of the musicians
performing.
APRIL---The Summer issue of FAZE, due out in early May,
is about to hit the presses. Look for stories covering careers
in fashion design, pet iguanas, study abroad programs, tougher
penalties for youth criminals, India's Taj Mahal, interracial
relationships and many more.
MARCH---Hey,
wait a minute! FAZE has only been out a couple of weeks, and
it's sold out and back ordered at Indigo's. Oops, guess that
means some of you are missing out. We're told Indigo is doubling
numbers for the next issue but if anyone can't get one contact
us and we'll take care of everything.
