In
most racing games, the way to success is in keeping your car
running as well as possible. The opposite is true in Destruction
Derby Arenas, where mindless mayhem and monstrous collisions
are the best way to reach the finish line.
But
coming out in first place may not even be enough. Points play
a huge role in this game and ultimately determine how you
can unlock more characters, cars and tracks in Championship
mode. So basically, you have to make as much contact as possible
with the cars around you and smash into the many destructive
environments set up throughout the tracks. Wrecking Racing
mode is a free-for-all where you race with the intention of
taking other cars out of the race, while trying to collect
more points than everyone else.

My personal favourite, Destruction Derby mode, is like your
typical battle royal in wrestling. You drive around in a pit
and hit anything that moves, while avoiding obstacles spread
throughout. It can be a lot of fun to play, especially with
a friend.
There
is an online element to the game as well, which was nice to
see, but overall, Destruction Derby Arenas doesn’t seem
to be as good as it probably could’ve been. The overall
game is a little short in length and the replay value is only
worth mentioning if you have a PS2 Network Adaptor.
