The
competition in the virtual baseball diamond is among the fiercest
in video games, but it always seems like each game is missing
a critical element to put it ahead of the rest. Acclaim’s
All-Star Baseball 2005 is one such game. Although impressive
in its Franchise/Expansion mode, its graphics are arguably
the worst of any of the baseball games out there right now.
This
is unfortunate for so many reasons, but mainly because the
large amount of substance this game has is met with little
to no flash, which is always important when thinking of a
sports game.

Generally, not a whole lot has changed here, with the notable
exception of online play. Why it took so long to make it happen
with this franchise is another story, but Acclaim stepped
up to the plate and put together a pretty solid offering on
Xbox Live.
All-Star
Baseball 2005 isn’t the best baseball game on the market,
but it certainly isn’t the worst either. There are many
elements that work here, but the lack of polish in the visuals
and sound take a lot of the ambience away from an otherwise
solid game.
