To
successfully remake a classic tv show like “Starsky
and Hutch” you have to have a combination of nerve,
luck and the Stiller and Wilson team. These two guys have
proven they have great onscreen chemistry and we see again
how brilliantly they work together in this film. Just the
sight of Ben Stiller running full speed in jeans so tight
they looked painted on was worth the price of admission
in my books!!
Their track record is proven in such hits as “The
Royal Tenenbaums”, “Zoolander”, and “Meet
the Parents”. Although something in “Starsky
and Hutch” reminded me of “Zoolander”,
I didn’t mind because I was having way too much fun
to care.
Snoop Dogg is hard to resist as Huggy Bear, their informer
and undercover partner. His background is a little questionable
but you don’t even care what he does for a living
because his character is so interesting and likable. I thought
he was a perfect addition to the Starsky and Hutch team.
Ben Stiller plays Starsky who is always on duty and lives
by the policy that no crime should ever go unpunished. His
behavior borders on crazy, and he has a dangerous dedication
to his job and bringing down criminals at any cost. He goes
through partners in no time as noone on the force wants
to work with him.
Owen Wilson’s ultra laidback, charming, womanizing
Hutch is the perfect foil for the uptight, way too tightly
wound Starsky. Pairing these two together is the recipe
for disaster, but in the best way.
