The latest
'bond' girls have nothing to do with 007. Not only have
they stirred up the pop scene but they've thrown an overly
serious world of classical music into a tizzy. Using their
violins, violas and cellos - Gay-Yee, Haylie, Eos and Tania
have merged the two genres of music with their debut release,
Born.
Throw
in fantastic beats and their stiletto heels and
presto
- classical music's dream machine! Or---and I know they
hate this---classical Spice Girls!
They've
opened for stars such as Ricky Martin and Andrea Bocelli,
and played in the opening production at the 2001 MTV Music
Awards. They note that they are wildly popular in Europe
and Asia but admit younger North American audiences don't
seem to get what they're doing (classical music, that is.)

More than pretty faces?
The
truth is, it's pretty infectious stuff, with great energy.
Just be careful if you spin this album in your car - a
couple tracks are perfect theme music for a car chase
so
don't blame me if you get pulled over by the cops.
