My
first impression of Thankful, the debut album of America’s
newest idol, Kelly Clarkson, was, watch your back Christina
Aquilera! Upon closer inspection of the CD credits, it turns
out, that little miss “let’s get dirty”
wrote the lyrics to the sassy Miss. Independent, which is
by far, the best song on the entire Clarkson CD.
This
Texas native first wowed America with her impressive voice
and Daisy Duke attitude on the hit reality show, American
Idol. The 20 year-old Clarkson, equipped with a $1 million
recording contract from RCA records, has gone on to become
America’s very first popstar prodigy. Although the
album is all over the place, there is no doubt that Clarkson
was worthy of her idol title. The album features R&B,
Rock and Country melodies that will pull at your heart-strings,
get you head banging, and yes- even two-stepping. Simon
Fuller, probably the most disliked man in the music biz
(in spite of his stint as evil American Idol judge), did
a great job packaging Clarkson, ensuring she delivers a
variety of music genres to her American Idol audience.
Kelly
Clarkson has proved her skeptics wrong and, without missing
a beat, she has successfully stepped (in Candies no less)
into the world of pop.
