Cool With It
Canadian R&B Teen Hits The Scene

Up-and-coming Keshia Chanté may only be 16 years old, however, don’t underestimate her
talent. Keshia graced us with her vocal chords last summer with singles ‘Shook-The Answer’
and ‘Unpredictable’, the sassy girls’ anthem which stayed on the charts for 28 weeks.
The “Unpredictable” video was at #1 on YTV and was among the top videos on Much Music in 2003.
But this summer Keshia’s much anticipated self-titled debut album hit the stands, which has
‘Big Boy’ burning up the charts, with a video directed by Little X (worked with Sean Paul and Nelly).
Determined not to let the music industry portray her as a typical teeny-bopper, Keshia put a lot of
herself into this album. “When I first got into this whole industry I was kind of shy to share my lyrics
because they were very personal but now I’m cool with it.”
An only child, Keshia grew up quickly,
“Personally I think it’s a lot easier to be an only child, because you cope with yourself pretty much.
And when you’re alone and don’t have brothers and sisters to persuade you into different things,
you analyze things a lot more and that makes you grow up a lot faster.
