Faze
Magazine's Circulation Jumps To 500,000
For its back-to-school issue, Faze Magazine will be
jumping from its regular 250,000 circulation to 500,000 copies, the
largest circulation ever for a Canadian youth publication. The English-language
quarterly magazine, launched in 1999, targets both male and female
readers 13-19 in unprecedented numbers.
The title reaches out to a bright and savvy generation
of teens and young adults with its "well-rounded with an edge"
editorial style according to Faze's Executive Director, Paul Zander.
Lead articles in the Back-to-School Issue range from The History of
Denim to Hot New Cell Phone Technology to Skateboarding to Healthy
Skin to Back-to-School Fashion Makeovers with MuchMusic's VJs. Notable
regular columnists include Ed The Sock. The issue also includes several
high profile contests including a weekend trip for 4 to see and meet
Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace.
With a cover price of $3.50, Faze is sold on newsstands
such as Chapters/Indigo and through paid subscriptions. Hitting shelves
by the first week of August, 350,000 copies of the magazine will be
bundled with teen lifestyle products and sold nationally in Back-to-School
Teen Gift Packs through major grocery, department, drug and music
retail chains. The packs are heavily promoted by retailers and have
a virtual 100% sell-through rate. The targeted packs have the benefit
of ending up in the homes of teenagers in time for the Back-to-School
shopping season.
Additionally, 100,000 copies of Faze will be personally
handed out to socially active teens as they leave school video dance
parties across Canada in September & October.
Major advertisers include Sony, L'Oreal and Procter
& Gamble. A full-colour, full-page ad in Faze Magazine is $7,500.
Advertising on the active Fazeteen.com website is also offered as
a bonus for advertisers in the printed magazine.
