Forget clothes, Bijoux Caroline Néron is all about the bling. The Quebec actress, songstress and jewelry designer showed off her sparkling styles on October 20, 2011 in the studio space at LG Fashion Week. Caroline’s S/S 2012 collection was inspired by “the divine nature of water, air and earth.”
Hits: Caroline’s models glittered from head to toe in long, draped strands of crystals. Combined with glam body makeup and hair styling, the girls looked like they’d literally showered in shine. I liked Caroline’s mix of contrasting hues; sometimes using wood, leather, crystals and other semi-precious stones all in one piece. She showed selections for every part of the body: head, neck, back, wrists and waists. Her jewelry was versatile with the ability to add luxury and sparkle to any eveningwear style.
Misses: Caroline’s designs have been worn by the likes of Usher; so it was no surprise her show had a MTV vibe to it. The pre-show video consisted of Caroline rolling around on carpets and caressing her jewelry in what looked like a poor imitation of Sharkira’s early music videos. To the audience’s relief, her designs ended up being quite ethereal and luxurious. Hopefully Caroline stages her future shows in manner that more closely matches the quality of her designs.
