NEW MOON: OWN IT MARCH 20th!
E1 Entertainment

New Moon DVD

Twi-hards everywhere successfully navigated New Moon into a top spot at the box office. Now, the focus turns to possessing a copy of your very own.

In celebration of New Moon’s much-anticipated release on DVD (March 20th—the countdown begins!), we thought we would share a little in the festivities by giving you a taste of another interview with one fabulous Volturi vampire, Alec, played by Canadian Cameron Bright (X-Men: The Last Stand, Godsend, The Butterfly Effect), who can also be seen in the upcoming Eclipse.

Faze: What was it like to see New Moon for the first time?

Cameron Bright: It was prettycool—especially our scene. Because when I saw it first, it was a rough cut and it had like half real stuff and then half people, like Daniel and Rob, in harnesses being flown around in sweat pants…And then seeing it all put together, in the real movie, it was really cool—seeing all the CGI and everything.

Cameron BrightFZ: What is it like to be a part of the Twilight craze?

CB: We went to the LA premiere, and there was 700-800 people lining up for four or five days, just to get on the red carpet to see us…We thought it was pretty cool, so we thought we’d show them something, get out and sign a couple autographs. Within five minutes, you could not walk on the sidewalk because there was just a ball of people around us. People were climbing trees to see us.

FZ: Which do you think is cooler—vampires or werewolves?

CB: I like vampires…but werewolves are always the coolest guys. And they always get the easiest wardrobe and no makeup or anything like that.

FZ: Well, they don’t wear any shirts. (laughs)

CB: Yeah, exactly! They just walk around in shorts all day. But, technically, where I’m from (where we were filming), I’d much rather be in clothes than shorts…it was cold for those guys.

FZ: Would they have to digitally remove the cold breath in those outdoor scenes?

CB: There are tricks. Like, Nicole Kidman taught me to put an ice cube in your mouth before you film and it cools your mouth off.

FZ: Why do you think this Twilight Saga is so appealing to so many fans?

CB: It’s almost like reality in a fantasy, and that’s what I think the younger people get out of it. I’ve had moms come up to me and they’re like, “Yeah, it reminds me of when I was a kid”—like how they felt above love and all that kind of stuff. And that’s what really draws people in; as soon as you can relate to something, from your own life, it makes it that much bigger…And I think that’s why there’s so many people around here that LOVE this movie.

FZ: What is the secret to your success?

CB: Hard work—just keep at it. For me, it didn’t come easy; I’ve been working since I was six years old. So, really, when you think about it, if I started working at McDonald’s when I was six years old, and I worked there for 10 years, I’d be the best burger-maker ever. So, basically, anything with time, you can get good at it…It’s not a job anymore, it’s my life—I’ve been doing it for 2/3 of my life.

FZ: But it isn’t always the same, right? Your career has to evolve with you growing up and changing.

CB: And that’s what I love about it: it always has a way to throw curve ball at you. You get to be whatever you want to be, really—you just gotta find the right movie.
